May I come in?

The Hague’s city centre has undergone quite a transformation in recent years. The Spuikwartier and Rivierenbuurt quarters have become a vibrant part of the city with new dwellings, a branch of Leiden University, new catering outlets, additional greenery, and cultural hotspots. The construction of Amare and redevelopment of Spuiplein mark the final steps in the rejuvenation of this part of the city. Amare will be home to the Residentie Orkest, Nederlands Dans Theater and the Royal Conservatoire. Amare’s arrival at Spuiplein means of course that we are going to be each other’s neighbours. And as befits a good neighbour, we would like to introduce ourselves so we can get to know each other.  May we come in?

Let's meet!

Every last Friday of the month between 4 and 6pm, you’ll find us out and about in Rivierenbuurt and Spuikwartier, eager to meet local residents. A representative of one of the four cultural occupants of Amare would like to have a 30-minute conversation with you, just so we can get to know each other. We would like to find out who you are, and to hear about life in the neighbourhood, and what you think of Amare, and what we could mean to you. We will also be bringing the concert hall outdoors for you, with students of the Royal Conservatoire and members of the Residentie Orkest performing a special piece on your doorstep, or even singing an aria in your living room.

It’s very important to us that everyone feels at home in Amare. It should be a place that everyone likes to visit, even if it’s just for a chat or a cup of coffee. Through these conversations between occupants of Amare and you, as residents of Rivierenbuurt and Spuikwartier, we can learn from each other and inspire each other.
