Fascinated by the inner voice we all have, ten years ago Lera Auerbach composed Arcanum for alt violin and piano. In addition you will hear the remarkable composition Dreams of Air by the Dutch composer Rozalie Hirs.

This concert is part of the Lera Auerbach Festival.

Programme

Lera Auerbach Arcanum sonate for viola and piano (2013)
Rozalie Hirs dreams of airs (2017-2018)

Fascinated by the inner voice in each of us, Lera Auerbach composed Arcanum for viola and piano ten years ago. 'Mysterious knowledge' is meaning of this title. Auerbach is referring to what you might call intuition, knowledge that we possess, but which we cannot put into words. For her, music is the means to express this without words. The special cycle dreams of airs can be heard by the Dutch composer Rozalie Hirs, who is also a poet like Auerbach. In a setting where the music is complemented by video projections, this work offers a hypnotic listening experience. Leave that to Ensemble Klang, one of the top ensembles of the contemporary music scene.
